LIVINGSTON, NJ — The following news release comes courtesy of the Livingston Police Department. Find out how to post announcements or events to your local Patch site.

American painter and illustrator Norman Rockwell was born on February 3, 1894. Known for capturing everyday American life, his work still resonates today.

To tip our hat to the past, the Livingston Police Department recreated a modern take on Rockwell’s iconic 1958 Saturday Evening Post cover, “The Runaway.” Swapping the red bindle for a backpack and classic shoes for Jordans, our goal was to show that while times change, Livingston’s strong sense of community remains.

The photo was staged at the Ritz Diner with help from owner David Feldman, photographer Martha Ackermann, Mt. Pleasant Middle School student Aiden Caetano, and LPD Traffic Officer Matt Debiasse.

Our goal was to show that although time moves on, Livingston’s sense of community is still ever present. For 103 years, the Livingston Police Department has taken pride not only in protecting and serving, but in being woven into the very fabric of the Livingston community.
