Livingston Residents Report 7 Vehicle Break-Ins During 1 Day: Police

Break-ins were reported on Mounthaven, Treemont, Thames, Westmount, Brighton and West Mt. Pleasant Ave., Livingston police say.

LIVINGSTON, NJ — Several Livingston residents reported vehicle break-ins during a 24-hour period last week, police say.

In total, seven break-ins were reported on Mounthaven, Treemont, Thames Dr., Westmount Dr., Brighton Ct. and W. Mt. Pleasant Ave. (near the corner of Westmount Dr.), TAP Into Livingston stated.

According to police, the victimized residents reported seeing a black vehicle was seen in the area between 3 a.m. and 5 a.m. All the vehicles were unlocked in the owner’s driveways at the time, and some had items removed, police said.

The reported break-ins took place just two days after the Livingston Police Department issued a warning via its Facebook page that read:

“Car thieves are back! Please do not leave your key fobs in your cars, especially high end cars, and please lock your car doors at night.”

Livingston police issued a similar advisory in November, warning residents to lock their cars at night and stating that officers had stepped up patrols.
