Livingston School District Earns Award For Awesome Newsletters
The art of crafting a catchy, informal newsletter is a tricky one. But the Livingston Public School System has it down, a trade group says.

LIVINGSTON, NJ — The art of crafting a catchy, informal newsletter is a tricky one. But the Livingston Public School System has it down pat, according to the New Jersey School Public Relations Association.
The Livingston Public School District and the Lawrence Township Public School District recently tied for first place in the Newsletter Category in the 2017 New Jersey School Public Relations Association School Communication Awards.
Lana Mueller, operations manager of the Lawrence Township Public School District, and Marilyn Lehren, manager of communications and community outreach for the Livingston Public School District, accepted the awards at the NJSPRA Annual Meeting and Awards Ceremony, held this month at Arm & Hammer Park.

Submissions entered in the Newsletter category were judged based on the external audience reach of the newsletter, the consistent publication of the newsletter and the amount of community members who received the newsletter.
According to the judges, Lawrence Township Public School District and Livingston Public School District’s newsletters stood out from the other entries because they included important district information and were easily accessible to the communities.

Chris Langschultz, the special assistant to the superintendent for the Bergenfield Public School District, received second place for his production of an informative and organized newsletter.
Michael Hecox, the communications and information specialist of Hoboken Public Schools, was awarded third place in the category for his eye-catching newsletter design.
