Livingston Schools Get Grants For Study Abroad Programs

High school students interested in studying abroad now have expanded options in Livingston.

Livingston, NJ - High school students interested in studying abroad now have expanded options in Livingston.

Livingston High School and Newark Academy are among the schools selected to participate in the Council on International Educational Exchange’s (CIEE) expanded Global Navigator Scholarship program for 2016, according to a CIEE news release.

This year, the CIEE is doubling the total number of high schools and students participating in the program, according to the release.

So far, more than 80 schools across the United States have been identified to receive grants of $20,000 each to help their students participate in CIEE’s Global Navigator summer study abroad programs, an increase from 43 schools selected during the 2014-2015 school year.

Global Navigator schools are chosen through a competitive assessment of their commitment to foreign-language acquisition and global education, a release stated.

Selected schools “provide rigorous, integrated, and globally focused academic programs, while serving students from diverse economic and cultural backgrounds.”

CIEE Global Navigator Scholarships are made possible by an endowment from donor Sheron Long, former CEO of Hampton-Brown.
