Livingston Students Brave The Barber’s Chair, Make Hair Donations

Community members from Joseph Kushner Hebrew Academy and Rae Kushner Yeshiva HS donated more than 400 inches of hair during the event.

LIVINGSTON, NJ — Dozens of students, parents and teachers in Livingston recently braved the barber’s chair to benefit people with medical hair loss.

More than 40 community members from Joseph Kushner Hebrew Academy and Rae Kushner Yeshiva High School took part in a hair donation drive, sacrificing a minimum of eight inches for the cause. The donated locks – which totaled more than 400 inches – will be used to make custom wigs that will be available free of cost to those in need, organizers said.

The event – spearheaded by RKYHS students and Kushner High School students Hannah Ginsberg and Jessica Serviss – was held in partnership with The Hair We Share, an organization whose mission is to help maintain the dignity, confidence and self- esteem of those affected by medical hair loss.
