A temple in Livingston was among those targeted in a series of antisemitic threats statewide, police said.

LIVINGSTON, NJ — A temple in Livingston was among more than a dozen targeted this past Sunday for antisemitic threats, police said.
Livingston police were notified Sunday at 8:39 a.m. that an email had been sent to Temple Beth Shalom, "claiming there were multiple explosives in the building that would be going off in a few hours."
The Essex County Sheriff's office Bomb//K-9 Unit and police checked the building and found it clear of explosive devices, police said.

Authorities said 13 temples and synagogues in New Jersey got the email threats on Sunday.
Antisemitic threats have risen since the Oct. 7 massacre in which the terrorist group Hamas killed Israelis at a music festival and kidnapped other adults and children from their homes.
The resulting fighting has resulted in hate crimes against both Jewish people and Palestinians in America, including the killing of a 6-year-old Palestinian boy.
Several other antisemitic threats and attacks have occurred in and around Livingston in the past few years. READ MORE: 'Hate Does Not Belong' Says Livingston After School Bus Theft
