Why Go: Astonishing acrobats, jugglers and contortionists seemingly defy gravity with breathtaking feats of boundless energy as they stretch the limits of human ability in this spellbinding performance that brings more than 2,000 years of Chinese circus traditions to life.

2. Duo: A two-women show
Daily at Drip Coffee House, 34 Main St, Madison
Why Go: Livingston artist and Chatham photographer Ann Frommer have joined forces to present a selection of their work. Barkai, who is an award-winning painter and a photographer, will display small works in dry pastels and oils, reflecting on the changing seasons. Frommer will display her popular Dining Alfresco photographic collection, highlighting views of old towns in Europe.
Pricing: Free.
3, The Sanctuary Concerts: Cheryl Wheeler with special guests My Sweet Patootie
Friday, Feb. 4, 8 p.m.
Presbyterian Church of Chatham Township, 240 Southern Blvd, Chatham.
Why to Go: is perhaps the funniest stand-up comedian, the wittiest comic-song writer, and the most heart-wrenching author of fine-tuned emotional ballads whom you've ever heard. Chameleon-like, she slides from poet of sweet, intelligent modern ballads to a wicked stand-up jokester and gentle social critic. Fans of the late lamented Canadian string band Tanglefoot will especially welcome My Sweet Patootie, the duo of former Tanglefoot fiddler Sandra Swanell and former Tanglefoot virtuoso multi-instrumentalist Terry Young.

4. Mah Jongg Marathon
Saturday, Feb. 5, 12- 6 p.m.
Museum of Jewish Heritage, 36 Battery Place, New York City
Why Go: The structure of will resemble that of a walk-a-thon — no carb-loading required. The suggested minimum donation per sponsor is $18. All proceeds will benefit the Museum. Participants are encouraged to register online and set up a personal fundraising page. Participants may also register by phone. Players may register alone or with a team. Single players will be matched with other players of their own level. All levels are welcome. Participants can play for as little or as long a time as they wish.
Pricing: $25 registration fee.
5. Lydia Johnson Dance Chinese New Year Party
Saturday, Feb. 5, 7:30 p.m.
Maplewood Club, N. Ridgewood Road, Maplewood.
Why to Go: The critically acclaimed dance company will celebrate its 10th anniversary with a gala Chinese New Year-themed fundraiser and silent auction. Dancers from the company will perform excerpts from new and recent work.
Pricing: $125 per person ($75 is tax deductible), parents of registered dancers pay $75 ($25 is tax deductible).
