Police Investigate Death Of Comcast Worker In Essex County

A Comcast employee was found dead today, and authorities say the man appears to have been killed in a work-related incident.

Authorities are investigating the death of a Comcast employee, who they say appears to have been killed in a work-related incident.

The employee was found dead near 30 Appleton Road in Glen Ridge around noon today, according to a news release from the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office.

Authorities did not release the man’s name, because his next of kin had not yet been notified of his death.

PSE&G spokeswoman Brooke Fisher told NJ.com that workers from her company were searching for the cause of a blown fuse in that area when they found the unresponsive Comcast employee on a ladder, leaning against the utility pole.

The workers tried to rescue the man as they waited for emergency responders, according to NJ.com.

Glen Ridge police, the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force and the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration are handling the investigation.

No other details were immediately released by the Prosecutor’s Office, but authorities said they would release additional information as it becomes available.
