LHS Grad and Metropolitan Opera Tenor Appears with Livingston Symphony Orchestra

Opera and classical music lovers alike will have the rare opportunity to experience the brilliance of a Metropolitan Opera Tenor in an easily accessible, affordable venue an Saturday, November 8, at 7:30 pm.

Featured in this season opening Livingston Symphony Orchestra Concert is Wagnerian Tenor, Adam Laurence Herskowitz. A Livingston High School graduate with a masters in vocal performance from the Manhattan School of Music, Adam has been the recipient of the prestigious Robert Lauch Award from the Wagner Society of New York and performed the lead roles of Canio in “Pagliacci” and Calaf in “Turandot” for opera companies in NJ, Toledo, and Minnesota. Mr. Herskowitz is in his fourth consecutive season with the Metropolitan Opera; several of his roles can be seen on the Met’s Live in HD Broadcasts.

In addition to performing with Adam Herskowitz, the Livingston Symphony is also privileged to be under the baton of its first guest conductor of this five concert season, Louis A. Kosma. Mr. Kosma conducts the Vermont Philharmonic Orchestra and previously was assistant principal bassist for the Metropolitan Opera. He has programmed an exciting evening which highlights Adam Herskowitz’s performance of beloved arias from “Aida” and “Pagliacci” with the orchestra. The concert also includes Wagner’s splendid “Rienzi Overture”, Vaughn Williams uniquely passionate “Concerto Grosso for Strings” and Dvorak’s beautifully melodic ”Symphony No.8.” Mr. Kosma and Mr. Herskowitz will present a preconcert discussion on these works at 7:15pm, fifteen minutes prior to the start of the concert.

With a rich fifty year history, the Livingson Symphony carries on its mission of bringing live classical music to the Livingston community and beyond. The professional level orchestra accompanied the Pope’s Choir in their debut American tour, and has performed in venues including St. Patrick’s Cathedral in NYC and Morristown’s Mayo Performing Arts Center.
