Special Bulk Trash Pickup In Livingston Due To Hurricane Ida
Have unwanted carpets, furniture, drywall or tree branches left over from the storm? Here's how to get rid of them in Livingston.
LIVINGSTON, NJ — Due to a “significant amount of damage” done by Hurricane Ida, Livingston will be holding a special bulk garbage pickup, town officials announced Tuesday.
Livingston officials stated:
“Damaged items that will be picked up are those that would normally be eligible for bulk pickup. This includes things like carpet, furniture, lawn care tools, wet or moldy paper and cardboard, small sections of water-damaged drywall, bundled brush and tree branches no longer than 4 feet in length and weighing no more than 50 pounds.”
Residents’ post-storm bulk pickup days are based on their regular garbage schedule, and will take place on the following dates:

- Zone 1 residents with regular Monday and Thursday garbage pickup will have their storm debris picked up on Thursday, September 16
- Zone 2 residents with Tuesday and Friday garbage pickup will have their storm debris picked up on Friday, September 17
- Zone 3 residents with Wednesday and Saturday garbage pickup will have their storm debris picked up on Saturday, September 18
These are the only days scheduled for this special storm debris pickup. Residents should put any storm-related items out at the curb the night before their pickup date. Trucks will not return to any homes or areas that miss their designated pickup date.
The town’s vendor will not pick up electronics, metal items or household hazardous waste, which all need special recycling – even if they have been water damaged, officials said.
