UPDATE: Streets Flood In Livingston, Drivers Rescued From Waters
Livingston Police: "Many of the streets are completely flooded and cars are getting stuck, causing us to have to rescue the occupants."
LIVINGSTON, NJ — Livingston police had a simple message for residents when the flood waters rose on Wednesday: don’t go driving.
Forecasters had warned that parts of the state could see flooding, thunderstorms and possibly tornadoes as the remnants of Ida move through the region Wednesday to Thursday. Livingston was one of several Essex County towns to see flooding on Thursday night, authorities reported.

The Livingston Police Department issued an alert shortly before 9 p.m.:
“Please do not go out driving around. Many of the streets are completely flooded and cars are getting stuck causing us to have to rescue the occupants.”

Livingston numerous water rescues on going. Boat in service pulling vehicle occupants to safety. Livingston Mall -Walnut St 5 cars under. Also trapped occupants removed from E. Hobart Gap Road. Old Short Hills Road Flooded like most of the roads. Avoid driving !!

It was a busy day for local traffic officers, who also responded to an accident earlier on Shrewsbury Drive, police reported.
