Tethered Hot Air Balloon Rides At Livingston ‘National Night Out’

All proceeds from the $5 balloon rides will be donated to Trial Blazers for Kids in memory of Livingston resident Jake Kestler.

LIVINGSTON, NJ — The Livingston Police Department will offer $5 tethered hot air balloon rides at their annual National Night Out event this year.

The 2019 version of the annual police event will kick off at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 6 at the Memorial Oval in Livingston. The free, annual event begins at 5:30 p.m. and will include food and soft drinks, rides, face painting, balloons and carnival games for children, giveaways, a DJ, law enforcement displays, safety/security demonstrations and anti-drug activities.

In case of rain, the event will be held inside Livingston High School.

According to a Livingston Police Department news release:

“The rides will be offered from 8 to 10 p.m. There will be 160 tickets available and they must be purchased in advance. They will be sold at police headquarters from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on both July 19 and July 24, and also from 9:30 to 11 a.m. on July 23. Tickets will be sold on a first come, first served basis. The cost per ticket will be $5 and only cash will be accepted. All proceeds will be donated to Trial Blazers for Kids in memory of Livingston resident Jake Kestler. As all of the proceeds are being donated to charity, no refunds will be given if the balloon is cancelled due to weather or other circumstances.”

The 2019 Livingston National Night Out will include displays from various local organizations and businesses. Any organization or local business that would like to have a free display table at the event is asked to contact the Community Policing Unit. Volunteers are also needed for various positions including running carnival games for children.
