These Inspiring Women In Livingston Are ‘Helping To Save The World’

The Livingston Committee for Diversity & Inclusion has announced the 2025 "Inspiring Women of Livingston" honorees.

LIVINGSTON, NJ — Livingston recently gave a rousing round of applause for a group of “inspiring women” in the township.

The Livingston Committee for Diversity & Inclusion (LCDI) has announced the 2025 Inspiring Women of Livingston honorees (see the list below).

The awards recognize leaders, volunteers, educators, entrepreneurs and students whose extraordinary contributions have “enriched and uplifted the community.”

“All the recipients today are helping to save the world,” Mayor Ed Meinhardt said. “They help so many people who need support and assistance. We appreciate all the work that you do to help not only our community, but our state, and our world.”

More than 150 people gathered on April 6 at the Livingston Senior/Community Center to celebrate this year’s honorees. Members of the Livingston Town Council, the Livingston Board of Education, and New Jersey Assembly members Rosaura Bagolie, and Alixon Collazos-Gill also attended the celebration.

“From fostering civic engagement to advocating for mental health, breaking barriers in education, and turning personal tragedy into purposeful action, each honoree has made a profound and lasting impact on Livingston,” event chair Saba Khan said.

The list of honorees includes:

Tanya Shah

A student, innovator, and community volunteer, Tanya Shah has inspired peers and mentors alike through her nonprofit work, leadership in high school clubs, and award-winning tech innovation. Her work on a dementia support app and recognition in a national coding competition demonstrate a passion for helping others through technology.

Shilpa Kulkarni

After the tragic loss of her son to suicide, Shilpa Kulkarni became a powerful mental health advocate and community builder. As the driving force behind Livingston’s annual Pride Picnic and Mental Health Fair, she has created spaces for healing, awareness, and support for families and LGBTQ+ youth.

Jodi Eisner

Through the creation of the Annietober365 Foundation, Annie’s Cookies, and Annie’s Army, Jodi Eisner has honored her late daughter’s legacy with grace and determination. She has led major fundraising campaigns, bone marrow registry drives, and youth engagement initiatives—all aimed at ending cancer and inspiring hope.

Amy Ipp and Robin Weiss

As co-presidents of the Livingston League of Women Voters, Amy and Robin have strengthened democracy by facilitating voter registration, student civic engagement, and public education events. Their efforts have empowered voters of all ages and reinforced the importance of civic responsibility.

Colomba Anzalone

A longtime advocate for education, health, and the arts, Colomba’s work spans decades. She was a pioneer in community television - including helping to establish LTV 34, health education, and cultural engagement in Livingston, and her story—told in her autobiography “A Dove’s Journey”—reflects perseverance and leadership that continues to inspire.

Kathryn Picardo

A visionary educator at Livingston High School and Fulbright Scholar, Kathryn Picardo brings global insights to local classrooms. Her innovative, discussion-based curriculum emphasizes real-world skills, self-reflection, and student empowerment. She is also pursuing her PhD at Columbia University while actively mentoring students.

Falungi Pandya

Leader of the Hindu Community of Greater Livingston and founder of Namaste Heritage, Falungi Pandya promotes cross-cultural education and empowerment. She fosters interfaith unity, cultural pride, and leadership among children and teens, enriching the town’s diversity and inclusivity.

Sandy Goodman

Sandy has raised over $400 million for rare cancer research through Cycle for Survival, which they started in 2007 when Jen was undergoing treatment at Memorial Sloan Kettering, while also making significant contributions to education, social action, and youth mentorship in Livingston. Her life’s work, rooted in the legacy of her late daughter, is a testament to resilience, service, and boundless generosity.

Sara Kiareldeen

A high school junior and founder of the Muslim Student Association at Livingston High School, Sara leads with courage, compassion, and inclusivity. In the face of adversity, she built a welcoming community rooted in service, hosting drives and promoting unity across faith and culture.

Monica Gupta

As founder of Indian Moms in Livingston (IMIL), Monica Gupta transformed a small Facebook group into a powerhouse of support, service, and celebration. Through cultural events, outreach programs, and empowerment initiatives, Monica has created a sisterhood that uplifts Indian mothers and strengthens the broader community.

Barbara Sherman

With over 40 years on the Livingston First Aid Squad, Barbara Sherman is a pioneer in emergency medical services, an educator, and a steadfast community advocate. Her tireless service has saved lives and inspired generations of volunteers to serve with compassion and skill.

Mindy Scheier

Founder of the Runway of Dreams Foundation, Mindy has revolutionized fashion inclusivity for people with disabilities. Her partnerships with major brands and local events like the “Fashionable Ally” show have promoted confidence, self-expression, and greater visibility for the disabled community.

Dana Dang

A real estate entrepreneur, civic advocate, and cultural leader, Dana Dang has dedicated herself to uplifting Livingston’s diverse communities. From voter engagement to cancer advocacy, mental health support, and cultural celebration, Dana is a powerful role model and mentor, especially to women and young leaders.
