Thief Enters Livingston Home, Takes Car Keys, Then Takes Car

Someone invaded a Livingston home and took the keys to the BMW, in a growing trend of home invasions followed by car thefts.

LIVINGSTON, NJ — Livingston police say that someone entered a home on Saturday night, took the car keys, then went outside and took the car.

Similar crimes have been taking place in Essex County towns, often with someone taking car keys from the kitchen, then making off with the car. In fact, in Maplewood on Monday, someone actually took two BMW's from one home.

In Livingston, around 11:45 p.m. on Saturday, a homeowner on Tiffany Drive told police that they had found the door to the home open, and the keys to a BMW X3 were missing.
