The Cancer Support Community at Monmouth Medical Center Presents Finding Your Strengths: Create your Own Ecomap and Genogram

While support systems can give patients a group of people to lean on and talk to, they can also be educational. The Cancer Support Community at Monmouth Medical Center presents the free program, “Finding Your Strengths: Create your Own Ecomap and Genogram,” where people affected by cancer can learn about why support systems are important. This program will take place on Wednesday, March 8 from 2 to 3 p.m. at the Cancer Support Community, located at 300 Second Avenue in Long Branch.
Participants will have the opportunity to learn about the support systems in their life by creating an ecomap and a genogram. An ecomap is a diagram that shows the social and personal relationships a person has with their environment. A genogram is a graphic representation of a family tree that not only shows relationships but heredity patterns and psychological factors.
The program will be led by Megan Tuohy, who is in the Masters of Social Work program at Monmouth University and is a social work intern for the Cancer Support Community.
