Deal Police Captain Suspended At Time Of His Death For Suspected Drug Use
Capt. Earl B. Alexander IV was twice over legal limit and had a myriad of drugs in his system when he died in a Jan. 2 crash.

Deal Police Capt. Earl B. Alexander IV was suspended from the police force when he slammed into a utility pole and stone wall on Jan. 2 in Ocean Township and was killed, according to app.com.
Alexander, 38, was the subject of an internal affairs investigation and was suspected of using drugs, Chief Ronen Neuman said. He had been suspended with pay since last August, the chief said.
“At the end of the day, whatever happened,” Neuman said. “It was his doing and he hurt himself and it cost — he paid the ultimate price for his negligence.”
