Classical Guitarist to Perform at Washington Township Library

Highly-acclaimed musician from New York to bring "energy" to Long Valley.

New York Classical Guitarist and Composer Bret Williams will perform work from his newly released solo album, including Latin / Classical / Original works at the Washington Township Public Library on Sunday, Oct. 10, at 2 p.m. according to a press release from the library.

Bret Williams has been hailed as a guitarist of "spectacular energy and technical resource" according to the Nylon Review. He has been billed as a "rising star in the New York classical guitar scene," said New York Classical Guitar Society.

Notable concerts include the Brooklyn Academy of Music, the Kimmel Center for Performing Arts in Philadelphia, St. Peter's Church, the Riverside Church, the Shandelee Music Festival, and the Mannes Guitar Symposium, the press release said.

Raised in Central California, Williams studied with Terry Mills from the University of the Pacific. He went on to receive his Bachelors of Music from the University of Texas at Austin while under the instruction of Adam Holzman.

After receiving numerous accolades, he continued his studies in New York City at the Mannes School. There he worked with Fred Hand, Michael Newman, and Terry Chaplain.

Soon after receiving his Masters Degree, he formed La Vita Williams Guitar Duo with Giacomo La Vita. The duo garnered success and praise with the release of their CD [89th & 2nd Records, CD 313-5B-1] and subsequent performances, according to the press release.
