Colleges Honor, Welcome Long Valley Students

Three locals make Dean's List, another is welcomed as part of large incoming class.

Three Long Valley residents have been honored by Washington College in Maryland for their academic achievements, while another is being welcomed for his freshman year of college.

Charlotte Cugnini, Melissa Gutkind and Erin Gutkind all received a grade point average of 3.5 or higher during the spring semester of 2013, which put them on the Dean’s List, according to a press release from the school.

Cugnini is a psychology and drama major expecting to graduate in 2016. Melissa Gutkind is a human development major with an expected graduation year of 2014, and Erin Gutkind is a biology major with an expected graduation year of 2016.

As a member of the 80th incoming freshman class, Cory Fleming will enter Wilkes University as one of 617 incoming freshmen, according to a press release from the school.

Fleming plans to major in criminology, the release said. This is just the third time in the school’s history the freshman class is more than 600 students.
