Donation Effort Buys Defibrillator For Long Valley Coffee Shop
A beloved coffee shop, The Coffee Potter, recently received a donation, prompting them to buy the new life-saving device.
LONG VALLEY, NJ — When the owners of a local coffee shop, The Coffee Potter, received a donation from West Morris Central High School's 2020 graduating class, they knew they wanted to help give back to the community.
Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the West Morris Central class of 2020 had extra money in their class budget that they couldn't use, so they decided to donate it to some small businesses in Long Valley.
The Coffee Potter's owners, Dave and Geralyn Hickey knew they wanted to take the generous gift from the WMC graduating class and give it back to the community.

"We have seen a number of cases of people coming off the Columbia trail that needed medical attention and we are a likely place to look for help because of our proximity to the trail so the AED and CPR certification training for our employees seemed like a great way to share with the community," Dave Hickey said.
The Coffee Potter is now the proud owner of an AED, which can be used in an emergency. The AED itself is simple to use, with both written and verbal step-by-step instructions. When the minutes count during a sudden cardiac arrest, the AED smart monitoring external AED can make all the difference.
