Members of the Hackettstown Toastmasters club will compete on Thursday, August 16 in Toastmasters International’s annual fall speech contest. This year’s event has two parts. The first, “Table Topics,” features off-the-cuff speaking in which contestants will be given a topic and have up to two minutes to complete a response. They will not know the topic ahead of time. The second, “Tall Tales,” features prepared three-to-five minute speeches of exaggerated content.
“These contests are a great way for members to achieve their personal best,” said area 23 governor Dennis Quirk. “And this fall’s competition gives contestants an opportunity to use all the public speaking skills they have learned through Toastmasters in a supportive environment. You will witness entertaining improvisation in Table Topics and storytelling at its best in Tall Tales!”
The event will be held at the Hackettstown Community Center beginning at 7pm sharp! All are welcome.
