Meet Long Valley’s own “Little Boy Blue” and his mom, author Kim Kavin

Meet Long Valley’s own “Little Boy Blue” and his mom, author Kim Kavin on Wednesday, October 3rd at 7 p.m. at the Washington Twp. Public Library, 37 E. Springtown Rd, Long Valley, NJ.

Long Valley resident Kim Kavin adopted Blue after seeing his adorable puppy face on Petfinder.com. She had no idea that just before his photograph was taken; Blue had been given only three days to live in a gas-chamber shelter in rural North Carolina. She also had no idea that, even
though Blue was technically in the care of a rescue group, he was actually in a home where a woman was bleaching him because the poor puppy had a rash. Kim, an award-winning journalist, learned all of this and more when she traced Blue’s history back to the Deep South. Her new book “Little Boy Blue” tells the story not only of her sweet, loving dog, but also the story of dog-rescue in America
today. It is a look at the incredible grass-roots effort to save every wonderful dog like Blue from high-kill shelters all across the nation.  Join us at the library on October 3rd, when Kim will do a short reading from “Little Boy Blue” and talk about how so many dogs like him from the South are finding their way to homes here in the Northeast.

Blue will be at the library for this event, too. He’s great with kids of all ages and adults alike.
