5 Guinness World Records Set In NJ In 2019
From the famous to the obscure, here are five of the Guinness World Records achieved in New Jersey over the past 365 days.

NEW JERSEY - Several New Jersey residents earned the right to be listed in the Guinness World Records in 2019 for a variety of reasons. Some were for feats of strength and endurance, others for agriculture and architecture.
One Arm Push Ups
- Who: Patrick Murray
- What: 20 push ups carrying a 100 lb pack in one minute
- Where: Hoboken
- When: March 30
- Description: The most one arm push ups carrying a 100 lb pack in one minute is 20, and was achieved by Patrick Murray in Hoboken on March 30. Murray has also held the 40 pound pack version of this record title and is working towards reclaiming that title too.
Consecutive Football Touches
- Who: Nathan Davies
- What: 6,539 knee touches
- Where: West Orange
- When: April 10
- Description: The most consecutive football touches with the knees is 6,539, and was achieved by Nathan Davies in West Orange on April 10. Davies also holds the record for the most consecutive football touches with the shoulders.
Most Corn Cobs On Single Plant
- Who: Matthew Jacovelli
- What: 29 corn cobs
- Where: Deptford
- When: Aug. 30
- Description: The most corn cobs on a single plant is 29, and was achieved by Matthew Jacovelli in Deptford on Aug. 30. The plant with 29 corn cobs grew in Jacovelli's garden.
Heaviest Zercher Squat
- Who: Herbert White III
- What: 637.61 lbs
- Where: North Brunswick
- When: Oct. 30
- Description: The heaviest zercher squat is 637.61 lbs., and was achieved by Herbert White III in North Brunswick on Oct. 30 2019. White has wanted to be a Guinness World Records title holder since he was a kid and trained to break this record.
Steepest Steel Roller Coaster
- Who: TMNT Shellraiser
- Where: Rutherford
- When: Oct. 25
- Description: The steepest roller coaster made from steel is the TMNT Shellraiser, located at the Nickelodeon Universe Theme Park in Rutherford. The ride, which opened to the public on Oct 25, features a 43 m (141 ft) vertical lift hill that descends on a slope that curves to angle of 121.5 degrees. In roller coaster terminology, a 90-degree descent is a vertical drop. Angles greater than 90 degrees indicate a partial inversion. The Shellraiser is slight modification of the design used in the previous record holder, Takabisha, both of which are 1000-series Euro-Fighter roller coasters designed by German engineering firm Gerstlauer Amusement Rides.

ZOMBIES RISING

- THE RECORD – Largest gathering of zombies
- SET BY – "The New Jersey Zombie Walk" in Asbury Park
According to Guinness, the Central Jersey group has taken the Guinness World Records crown for the "largest gathering of zombies" several times, marshaling 9,592 participants for their undead event on the boardwalk in October 2013.
CASTLES IN THE SAND
- THE RECORD – Tallest sand castle
- SET BY – Ed Jarrett at Jenkinson's Boardwalk in Point Pleasant Beach
According to Guinness, Jarrett – who has broken the same record several times – took weeks to build his masterpiece, unveiled in October of 2013.
WONDERFUL WATER SLIDE
- THE RECORD – Longest inflatable water slide
- SET BY – Live More Awesome at Action Park in Vernon
According to Guinness, the Live More Awesome team created a 1,975-foot inflatable water slide in Vernon on July 10, 2015.
Q*BERT MARATHON
- THE RECORD – Longest video game marathon on Q*Bert
- SET BY – George Leutz at Richie Knucklez Arcade Games in Hunterdon
According to Guinness, the longest video game marathon on the arcade version of Q*Bert lasted 84 hours and 48 minutes. The man behind the joystick was George Leutz, who accomplished the feat in February 2013.
CHEERFULLY MAKING HISTORY
- THE RECORD – Largest number of cheerleaders simultaneously performing a cheer at a single venue
- SET BY – Science Cheerleaders & Pop Warner at the Sun National Bank Arena in Trenton
According to Guinness, 1,278 cheerleaders set the above record during Pop Warner's Northeast Regional Cheerleading Competition on Nov. 12, 2011.
NEW TOOTH FOR 92-YEAR-OLD
- THE RECORD – Oldest person to grow a new tooth
- SET BY – Erna Kohane in Mount Arlington
According to Guinness, Erna Kohane was 92 years and 144 days old when she was confirmed to have a new tooth growing in Mount Arlington on Jan. 15, 2014.
