Flooring, Carpet Business Opens New Location In Long Valley
One manager credits the staff's longtime friendships for the business's success over nearly three decades.
LONG VALLEY, NJ — A business with a rich history in serving its community is hoping to continue that legacy with a new location in Long Valley.
Washington Flooring has opened its newest location at 62 East Mill Road #C6 in Long Valley after serving nearly 30 years in Washington Borough in Warren County.
Owner David Bendel and managing partner Cody Watts were looking to expand their services to more areas in North Jersey, specifically in Morris and Somerset counties, hence the new establishment.

“We wanted to be able to bring that quality and service to two new counties,” Watts said.
The store offers a wide variety of carpeting, rugs, and flooring, including hardwood, vinyl, tile, and more. Additionally, the establishment offers services including installation and staircase resurfacing.

Washington Flooring’s core staff has been left pretty much unchanged since the original store’s inception, something Watts considers a factor in the business’s success.
“A few of our employees… We are their first job, and they are now in their 40s. They started when they had their driver's permits, when they were 16 years old,” Watts said. “Now they’re full adult grown men who’ve been with us this entire time, which is fantastic… I think it’s the culture of Washington Flooring, we’re all on the same page about delivering a quality product at a good price.”
Watts added that the core team of Washington Flooring is close outside of work, with themselves and their families becoming good friends over the last three decades.
“As we’ve all grown up together, it’s only brought us closer as humans, but also in achieving mutually aligned goals for the company,” Watts told Patch. “Turns out being great friends with all of your employees makes the company better for it.”
The business is open Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Thursday from noon to 8 p.m., and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. It’s closed on Sunday and Monday.
