Fundraiser being held for Sheila Abrams' final expenses

Well-known regional entertainment writer's friends and family run fund-raiser to help cover her final expenses following her death.

In an effort to support her family's efforts to create a celebration of her life (memorial event) and pay her final funeral costs, Sheila Abrams' friends have created this GoFundMe drive. After decades in local and regional journalism, specializing in entertainment writing and editing, Ms. Abrams died in August after prolonged and gradual congestive heart failure. She was well-known to publishers, editors and performers, as well as entertainment audiences throughout the region for her thoughtful and well-written critiques of all varieties of performing arts, from community theater to NJ Shakespeare, Masterwokrs Chorus, Baroque Orchestra of NJ, and all sorts of dance and classical music.

At the time of her death, her daughter and family had relocated back to NJ specifically to spend Mrs. Abrams' final months caring for her at home. As a result, they left their jobs and income to move to New Jersey. Her needs and wants during the time she was in hospice care, as well as some long-neglected routine maintenance to her home, exhausted the family's savings. Now, as they move forward, they hope to hold a final memorial event for Mrs. Abrams' friends and newspaper/internet audience to attend and enjoy. In that vein, Joann W. Donlan, formerly of Schooley's Mountain and currently of Hackettstown, a longtime friend of the family, has started this fund-drive to assist in plans for this event, as well as helping to cover Ms. Abrams' final funerary expenses.
