Gutsy Call Gives Wolfpack Edge Over Parsippany Hills

In just 83 yards, West Morris Central went from bubble team to serious contender.

Facing the Star-Ledger’s second-ranked team in the county Saturday afternoon, the Wolfpack knew its matchup against Parsippany Hills would be no easy task.

But the players – and coaching staff – have been here before.

Central was down 21-14 with just five minutes to play when it embarked on an 83-yard, 11 play drive, according to nj.com. Tailback Kevin Sears punched in a touchdown from the one-yard line, the report said, and head coach Kevin Hennelly wasn’t about to let the game be decided in an extra period.

Hennelly told his coaches to drum up a two-point play, which had quarterback Colin Sokolowski throw a short pass to Sears for the go-ahead points, the report said.

Central won 22-21 on the road, and now improve to 5-2 on the season, handing Parsippany Hills its second loss of the year.

The Wolfpack takes on its biggest challenge of the season Friday, Nov. 1 at home as they host Delbarton, currently ranked number one in the county. Kick off is set for 7:30 p.m.
