Lectures, Collections, and Songs in Celebration of Black History Month
Stop by the library to register for virtual lectures, to attend a musical performance, and to check out new titles.

Long Valley - The Washington Township Public Library celebrates Black History Month with programs, access to Kanopy documentary collections, and new books.
A movie streaming service free with a WTPL library card, Kanopy offers a selection of movies, ranging from titles like John Lewis: Good Trouble (2020) and Driving While Black (2020) to My Brother's Wedding (1983) and Really Love (2020), and other curated picks. The library also has both entertaining and educational program offerings. On Friday, February 24th at 1 PM, WTPL welcomes back Rhonda Denét, where she will perform a set that spans gospel, jazz, soul, and pop in celebration of the African American experience. On Monday, February 27th at 7 PM, WTPL and other libraries across Morris County will be able to tune into a Zoom program on Black art throughout history. Registration to receive the Zoom link is required.
And on Tuesday, February 28th at 6:30 PM, WTPL will welcome Professor of Sociology Richard Reinschmidt on Zoom to discuss the history of the prison system and its intersections with race and slavery. Registration to receive the zoom link is again required.
