Long Valley Hiring For 2 DPW Positions: See Details

There are two full-time positions available with the Washington Township Department of Public Works.

LONG VALLEY, NJ — Washington Township is looking to expand its Department of Public Works workforce, with applications now being accepted for two full-time positions: a Motor Pool Foreman and a Junior DPW Mechanic.

Both positions include benefits and are based in the township's Department of Public Works.

Motor Pool Foreman

The township is seeking an experienced mechanic to oversee its vehicle maintenance operations as DPW Motor Pool Foreman.

The full-time, non-contract exempt position requires applicants to possess:

  • A commercial driver's license (CDL)
  • A high school diploma or GED
  • Technical training certification
  • At least five years of experience repairing vehicles and equipment.

Responsibilities include supervising mechanics, diagnosing electrical and mechanical issues, overseeing preventative maintenance, ordering parts, preparing reports and remaining available for 24-hour emergency response when needed. Salary will be determined according to the applicable contract.

Junior DPW Mechanic

Washington Township is also hiring a Junior DPW Mechanic at a starting wage of $32.64 per hour, plus benefits.

Applicants must have:

  • A high school diploma or GED
  • Three years of combined automotive technology training and experience in gas and diesel vehicle repair, maintenance, inspection and testing
  • A CDL or the ability to obtain one within 90 days of hire

The township said ASE certification is preferred, and the position includes snow plowing responsibilities.
