Long Valley Raiders Capture First Championship in Morris County Pee Wee Division

Sixth graders write first chapter of new history book in county's youth football program.

Their coach said they deserved a victory in the title game, but it would “be up to them to go and take it.”

And take it they did.

The Long Valley Raiders Pee Wee football team, led by coach Mickey Pirrello and comprised of 30 sixth graders, brought home the first-ever Morris County Youth Football League championship for its division on Sunday, knocking down a competitive Denville team by a score of 13-0.

The championship is a huge accomplishment for a multitude of reasons. With the win, the team caps an undefeated season, going 11-0, including playoff games. The shutout victory was the team’s eighth out of 11 games. On the season, the defense allowed just 18 points, or 1.6 points per contest, on average.

The Pee Wee team consists of 30 players, including: Felice Montella, Kole Duerr-Fredrickson, Tyler Menton, David Rento, Trey Guzman, Chris Mullin, Anthony Marino, Mikey Zutell, Colin Blount, Rocco Mustacchio, Michael Steen, Gavin Cuccaro, Jack Connelly, Andy Pruss, Christian Cevis, Chris Bell, Luke Duerr-Fredrickson, Gabriel Caso, Drake Hueckel, Michael Pirrello, William Farkas, Nick Chisari, Logan Hart, Matt Ruppel, Eric Lyden, Joey Rotundo, Jack Leloia, James Robinson, Hunter Babinec, and Peter Rizzuto.

That group of gridiron greats has now notched its place in Morris County football history, earning the first-ever Pee Wee division championship crown.
