Long Valley Student Wins First Ever LV Geography Bee
Congratulations to eighth grader Kevin Cheung!

LONG VALLEY, NJ— A Long Valley Middle Schooler competed in the state Geography Bee after winning the first ever Long Valley Geography Bee. Both are sponsored by the National Geographic Society.
8th grader Kevin Cheung won the Long Valley competition before moving on to the state competition. Cheung placed within the top 100 students in a timed online test, scoring him a spot in the State Finals at Rowan University.
"I am thrilled to have won the first ever geography bee at LVMS and honored to have the opportunity to represent our school and Long Valley at the recent state bee," Cheung told Patch.

Unfortunately, Cheung and 77 others were eliminated in the first round, but it was still a good experience.
"We and the entire LVMS community are very proud of him and his achievement in not only winning the first ever school bee but also qualifying for the state bee," mom Sue Cheung told Patch. She said it took the family seven hours round trip to travel from their home to the competition.
