Long Valley Track Stars Make Winning Personal

Slew of individual records set as hometown team takes on reigning champs in Madison.

Three meets into the season and these runners continue to improve. An astounding 147 Personal Records (PR’s) were set during Sunday’s meet against the division champions in Madison. Runners in all age groups and events have set out to prove that their best is yet to come.

The team came on strong early in the meet with the 13-15 boys 4x100m relay team of Drew Munley, Alec DiLullo, Aidan Carrera and Christian Trimarchi crossing the finish line in a team best of 53.97, nearly four seconds ahead of second place Madison. Continuing the winning relay trend was the 11-12 boys team of Luke Lusskin, James Zeolla, Matt Hayden and Max Murata with a time of 1:03:14.

Long Valley also came out strong in the boys 11-12 800m with Luke Lusskin (2:39.19) nabbing his third consecutive first place finish in the event this season, followed by Max Murata (2:56.88) in second. Ryan Matos took second for the 9-10 boys (3:11.41), while Sarah Hanafin (9-10 girls; 3:04.43) and Ava Lusskin (13-15 girls; 2:46.07) brought home impressive third place finishes.

Julia Casteneda (6:43; 13-14 girls) and Luke Lusskin (5:47; 11-12 boys) took first place in the mile while Tyler Bishop (6:48; 11-12 boys) and Sarah Bhargava (6:35.59; 11-12 girls) came in second. Third place went to Evan Carpenter (6:15.69; 13-15 boys), Catherine Masterson (7:34; 11-12 Girls), Jeffrey Cianfrocca (7:51; 9-10 boys), and Molly Sabo (7:24; 9-10 girls).

The 100m gave the team three top spots. The photo finish for the 13-15 boys went to Alec DiLullo (13.03), with teammate Drew Munley (13.16) taking second. Luke Doerr-Fredrickson took first (15.16) for the 9-10 boys with Zach Dragos (15.40) coming in third. James Zeolla (14.97) and Sebastien Hughes (15.25) took first and third for the 11-12 boys while Caroline Hurley (15.15) and Crystal Robinson (15.44) took second and third for the 11-12 girls. Rounding out the event were Kelsey Collester (17.65; 9-10 girls) and Mara Stahlhut (14.78; 13-15 girls) in third.

Three first place scores also came in from the 400m event, Luke Doerr-Fredrickson (1:22; 9-10 boys), Max Murata (1:18.78; 11-12 boys) and Ava Lusskin (1:10.78; 13-15 girls).  Second place in the event went to Sarah Hanafin (1:27.09; 9-10 girls), Caroline Isemann (1:20.87; 11-12 girls), Christian Trimarchi (1:06.13; 13-15 boys) and Briana Harmon (1:15.97; 13-15 girls). Alec DiLullo (1:07.15) came in third for the 13-15 boys.

Drew Munley (28.03; 13-15 boys) and James Zeolla (31.19; 11-12 boys) wrapped up the day on the track with first place finishes in the 200m. Dean Hurley (33.75; 9-10 boys) and Crystal Robinson (32.91; 11-12 girls) placed second. Sophia Dolan (38.44) came in third for the 9-10 girls.

Shot Put results came in the form of a first place finish from Ian Dalgleish 24’ (boys 11-12) and four second place finishes: Luke Doerr-Fredrickson (18’11”; 9-10 boys), Laura Nurmi (12’6”; 9-10 girls), Alex Ryberski (20’ 3 ½” (11-12 boys) and Danielle Madden (20’8”; 13-15 girls). Third place went to Shane Wjicki (17’7”; 9-10 boys), B Hurst (20’; 11-12 boys), Klajewski (27’ 2”; 13-14 boys) and Emily Muha (18’ 1 ½”; 13-15 girls).

Long jumpers Alec DiLullo (13’10”; 13-15 boys) and James Zeolla (12’; 11-12 boys) garnered first in their age groups with Sarah Hanafin (8’2”; 9-10 girls) capturing second. Rounding out the field events, Sophia Dolan ((7’ 11”; 9-10 girls) and Crystal Robinson (9’ 5”; 11-12 girls) placed third.
