Long Valley's Burton Hopes to Turn NFL Heads at Medal of Honor Bowl Game
Draft-eligible Rutgers captain gets one more shot to show talent to professional scouts Saturday.

West Morris Central graduate Michael Burton, who just capped his Rutgers football career in a stomping of North Carolina in the Quick Lane Bowl, will have another chance to get the attention of NFL scouts this week.
Burton has been invited to play in the Medal of Honor Bowl, an All-Star Game of sorts for NFL draft-eligible players from the NCAA’s Power 5 conferences that lends an opportunity for athletes to shine in front of scouts.
The game, set for 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 10, features 55 players from the conferences, nj.com said.

Burton, a 6-foot, 230-pound fullback, was one of five captains on the Scarlet Knights this season. He told Patch back in August that while a chance at the NFL would be great, it wasn’t on his mind as he set forth for a successful season, Rutgers’ first in the Big 10 conference.
“I think it’s going to be a great opportunity,” Burton told nj.com. “I’m definitely just looking to showcase my versatility, just go down there and show what I can do – run, block, catch. The same things I did at Rutgers, just do more of that and hopefully turn some heads and build some relationships with the coaches down there and really just have a great experience.”

Burton told nj.com he’s heard some 100 NFL scouts will be on hand at the game.
The game will be aired on NBC Sports.
