Navy Hero, Service Technician Passes
Services for Albert Martini at Leber Funeral home Aug. 7 and 8.

Albert M. Martini of Long Valley passed away on Monday, Aug. 5 at the age of 93.
Martini was born on July 8, 1920 in Weatherly, PA and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II aboard the U.S.S. Hopping, a Destroyer Escort. Following his service, Martini attended Upsala College in West Orange, NJ and earned a Bachelor's Degree in chemistry.
Martini's built a career as a service technician and was employed by Sel-Rex, OMI and Platronics where he would troubleshoot and design gold plating baths. Over the course of his working life Martini was the holder of many patents.
Martini was a caring and generous man who enjoyed his family, arts and crafts, and was proud to be a veteran.
Martini was predeceased by his beloved wife Irene (nee Cyre) in 2000 and is survived by his children Wayne, the Chief of Police in Chester Township, Allen, Lynn, and Glenn; 12 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and a sister, Thelma.
A Celebration of Martini's Life will be held on Wednesday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m, and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m at the William J. Leber Funeral Home located at 15 Furnace Road in Chester.
A 10:00 a.m. funeral service will be held on Thursday at the Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Hollywood Cemetery in Union, NJ.
