New Assistant Principal Hired for Middle School

Less than a year after administrator resigns, position is filled by school board.

In less than a full school year, the Washington Township School district found a new, permanent assistant principal for the Long Valley Middle School.

The board of education approved the hiring of Ellyn High to join the district’s administration, filling the position left by Jay Eitner.

Eitner resigned in August 2012 for personal reasons after two years in the district.

High will earn $82,500 in her first year with the district. The educator has been with the South Plainfield school district since 2001, as an eighth grade teacher for the first nine years, then as an administrator for the next three.

The 2013-14 school year will be High’s first in Washington Township.

Email messages and phone calls to Superintendent Jeff Mohre regarding the interview and hiring process were not immediately returned.
