New Home Provides Support For Adults With Disabilities In Long Valley

LONG VALLEY, NJ — A newly renovated house in Long Valley will provide supportive housing for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Washington Township Mayor Matthew Murello attended the ribbon-cutting event on Thursday, along with ArcMorris’ Executive Director Salvatore Moran, the Board of Directors, staff, and families, at the ribbon-cutting ceremony opening of their newest home in Washington Township.
ArcMorris is a non-profit organization that provides services and information to people with intellectual disabilities and their families in a caring and sensitive manner. According to the company's website, it operates 26 state-licensed programs in Morris County.

The freshly renovated property now features unique accommodations such as bigger doorways, lower-height appliances, accessible bathrooms, open hallways and floorplan. The residence also contains a sensory room and facilities for in-house rehabilitation.
Officials at ArcMorris envision a world in which persons with intellectual and related developmental disabilities, as well as their families, are respected and given the chance to reach their highest level of self-sufficiency, independence and inclusion.

As a result, their residential locations are in safe, welcoming areas around the county and provide all of the same comforts and conveniences as other houses in the area.
Each program is licensed by the state of New Jersey and is frequently inspected to ensure compliance with all local, county, state and federal regulations and requirements.
"It is absolutely a pleasure and a joy to see a place like this repurposed for our most vulnerable in our community. We are a relatively small town, but we are a town that cares so much for our residents. ArcMorris, you've done a wonderful job," Murello said at the ribbon-cutting. "I want to welcome you to this town and to a wonderful community of people. This is a wonderful project."
ArcMorris presently provides a community-based system of homes and apartments that accommodate people with intellectual disabilities' particular housing needs. Staff that are well-trained assist in achieving the least restrictive living arrangement for each client.
The purpose is to encourage growth and independence while also providing a safe, healthy and caring environment for individuals aged 21 and up.
