NJ Woman Stole Vehicle, Then Carjacked And Crashed Another: Cops
Ammany Jafar took two unwilling passengers for rides before crashing, police said.
LONG VALLEY, NJ - A 35-year-old Clifton woman was arrested after stealing a truck with the owner inside and then carjacking another car that she later crashed on Friday morning, according to the Washington Township Police Department.
Patrol Officer David Beltran received a report that a blue Ford pickup was heading westbound on Route 46 with a man in the bed of the pickup truck.
According to police the man who was in the bed of the pickup truck was the vehicle's owner and he had gotten into the bed of the truck after a woman had tried to steal his truck. The truck owner said as his truck was being taken he was trying to draw attention to other drivers, police said.

When the truck stopped at the intersection of Route 46 and East Ave, the woman driving, Ammany Jafar, began yelling that she needed help from the man that was in the back of the pickup truck, police said. A man driving another car of another vehicle at this intersection, saw the commotion and went to render aid. As this bystander attempted to figure out what was happening, Jafar then jumped into his vehicle and proceeded south on East Avenue, with a female passenger still inside, police said.
After traveling a few hundred feet Jafar ordered the carjacking victim out of the car on East Avenue, police said.

The stolen car left the scene and was later located in Phillipsburg where it crashed and Jafar was taken into custody. Police noted that additional charges may be pending.
