The Fair will be held on Saturday, March 17, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Cafetorium. Registration continues through Jan. 20, and is open to 4th and 5th grade residents of Long Valley.

Last year there were 60 participants in the Fair. The projects were amazing, each one more original than the next. All experiments were judged by local professionals, and 3 winners selected. The Fair will also showcase several scientific exhibits. Last year's exhibits included Lasers, the 4H Club, a pond study, and a local farm with small animals, to name a few.

Each grade school is involved, and has promoted the Fair by introducing the Scientific Method to their 4th and 5th grade classes. The Scientific Method is (according to the Oxford Dictionary) "a method or procedure that has characterized natural science since the 17th century, consisting in systematic observation, measurement, and experiment, and the formulation, testing, and modification of hypotheses." Basically, it is a series of procedures that help the scientist come up with an answer!

According to Ann Haas, organizer from the Junior Women's Club, "The kids have such a great time and it is really impressive to see how creative they can be."

Registration is through the LVJWC website: www.lvjuniors.org. Questions can be directed to Ann Haas, ahaas4@comcast.net.
