Police Search Of Long Valley Woods Leads To Arrest

In Long Valley, a man was apprehended after attempting to hide in the woods from police who were serving a warrant.

LONG VALLEY, NJ — A man was apprehended after deliberately hiding in the woods from officers attempting to serve an arrest warrant, according to the Washington Township Police Department.

The Morris County Sheriff's Department was attempting to serve an arrest warrant on a male on Naughright Road at the Totten Farm for a previous probation violation, according to authorities.

The individual then fled the scene on foot into the surrounding fields and woods, police said.

The man, who has not been identified publicly, was apprehended and turned over to the Sheriff's Department; he is now being held in the Morris County Jail.

According to the Morris County Sheriff's Office, the man has additionally been charged with eluding arrest.

The man was later discovered hiding in the brush along a hedgerow after police set up a perimeter and used K9 officers to thoroughly search the area, according to the department.

“At no point was the public at risk as he was contained in the wooded and field areas at all times,” the Washington Township Police Department said.
