LONG VALLEY, NJ — Various members of the Long Valley First Aid Squad completed rescue training and drills throughout the month of June to better prepare themselves for future endeavors.
Six Long Valley First Aid Squad Rescue Services members completed high-angle rope rescue operations training at the Hunterdon County Emergency Services Training Center to kick off the month of drills.
"This course trained rescuers in a variety of rigging and rescue techniques including rappelling, single and team-based pickoffs, litter tending, main and belay rope systems, twin tension rope systems and much more," said the Long Valley First Aid Squad.

Long Valley First Aid Squad Rescue Services members practiced high-angle rescue for six hours the following week in Schooleys Mountain County Park. Rescuers practiced single-rescuer rappels for patient access, as well as learning how to lift victims up the rope alongside a mountain.
"Excellent weather for training! While members were training in the park another one of our EMS/Rescue Services members completed Low Angle Rope Operations with RPI/Mt. Bethel Fire,"said the Long Valley First Aid Squad.

Long Valley First Aid Squad held its monthly EMS drill last night, reviewing responder rehab equipment and procedures. Members were re-energized on the Support 2 truck, which houses and transports the majority of our rehabilitation equipment, such as tents, misting fans, folding chairs, tables, hydration supplies and medical equipment.
Rescuers also got to use the newly acquired ZUMRO inflatable shelter, which was purchased with capital funding from Washington Township last year in order to ensure the safety of Fire, EMS and Police personnel at long-duration scenes.
The shelter can provide heat or air conditioning and can be quickly inflated by two people in under a minute, officials said.
The Long Valley First Aid Squad is currently recruiting new EMTs and Rescue Services Members. Those interested in joining should contact the Long Valley First Aid Squad at (908)-876-4567.
