Revolutionary War Icon To Make Appearance At Washington Twp. Library
Alisa Dupuy will present a first-person portrayal of Betsy Ross, exploring her life and contributions to American independence.
LONG VALLEY, NJ — A first-person portrayal of Betsy Ross will be presented on March 11 at the Washington Township Library. The event, featuring Alisa Dupuy of The Ladies of History, will take place from 6 to 7 p.m. in the library's large meeting room.
The presentation will focus on Betsy Ross, also known during her lifetime as Elizabeth Claypoole. She was a seamstress, upholsterer, wife, mother, and member of the Quaker community. The program aims to illustrate her contributions to American Independence and her connections to the nation’s Founding Fathers.
Ross is noted for her efforts in helping the American cause prevail against the British. She played a role in defining the new nation through her work with flags and colors. The upcoming event will cover details about her life, including her marriages and her involvement in the American Revolution.
