School Resource Officers Approved For Washington Twp Schools

The officers will be placed in schools starting in Sept. 2018.

LONG VALLEY, NJ — Two school resource officers will be added to the Washington Township School District, starting at the beginning of the 2018-2019 school year.

The Township Committee approved a resolution to add the resource officers (known as SROs) at Monday night's meeting, and the Board of Education approved it on Tuesday. Both SROs will be fully trained, Class I officers from the Washington Township Police Department.

"This initiative serves to further enhance the overall school security effort here in the Washington Township Schools," superintendent Jeff Mohre told Patch.
