See How Long Valley Fared On The PARCC 2019 Exam

LONG VALLEY, NJ - The results of the standardized tests formerly known as PARCC are in, revealing results for the 2018-2019 school year.

Patch put together the lists of districts, including percentages of students who met or didn't meet expectations. High school math was broken into Algebra I, Geometry and Algebra II.

Levels four and five are considered meeting or exceeding expectations, while "Level 1" means they didn't. Just like the past PARCC tests, students met expectations if they performed in the "Level 4" and "Level 5" areas, which is between the scores of 750 and 850, the latter being a perfect score.

Here is how the local districts did out of the roughly 500 ranked:

Algebra I

• Washington Township ranked second with 99.2 percent of students meeting expectations.
• West Morris Regional ranked 186 with 56.7 percent of students meeting expectations.

Geometry

• West Morris Regional ranked 37 with 63.4 percent of students meeting expectations.

Algebra II

• West Morris Regional ranked 27 with 82.7 percent of students meeting expectations.

3rd grade math

• Washington Township ranked 336 with 53.7 percent of students meeting expectations.

4th grade math

• Washington Township ranked 209 with 61.3 percent of students meeting expectations.

5th grade math

• Washington Township ranked 49 with 76.3 percent of students meeting expectations.

6th grade math

• Washington Township ranked 89 with 64 percent of students meeting expectations.

7th grade math

• Washington Township ranked 87 with 65.5 percent of students meeting expectations.

8th grade math

• Washington Township ranked 116 with 45.8 percent of students meeting expectations.

3rd grade English

• Washington Township ranked 317 with 49.8 percent of students meeting expectations.

4th grade English

• Washington Township ranked 234 with 65.2 percent of students meeting expectations.

5th grade English

• Washington Township ranked 129 with 75.4 percent of students meeting expectations.

6th grade English

• Washington Township ranked 125 with 75.1 percent of students meeting expectations.

7th grade English

• Washington Township ranked 119 with 80.7 percent of students meeting expectations.

8th grade English

• Washington Township rankled 76 with 84.9 percent of students meeting expectations.

9th grade English

• West Morris Regional ranked 27 with 82.9 percent of students meeting expectations.

10th grade English

• West Morris Regional ranked 21 with 84.4 percent of students meeting expectations.

PARCC tests have been a source of controversy for years, and Gov. Phil Murphy has talked for two years about finding replacements for the Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers test.

The New Jersey Student Learning Assessment (NJSLA) uses the same computer-based platform used for PARCC and draws on the same bank of test questions. Indeed, the NJSLA results in English and math are comparable to the previous years' PARCC results.

However, the biggest difference between this assessment and PARCC is that it's now approximately 25 percent shorter and the number of questions has been reduced.
