As you'll see in many of the photos, parent and resident Dave Kavanaugh uploaded plenty of images from Project Graduation, an annual event that followed the graduation ceremony.
An overview of the event follows:
Project Graduation is a tradition that began in the mid-1980s as a community's response to the many hazardous and harmful activities often associated with high school graduation celebrations.
It is a chaperoned, all night drug, alcohol and smoke-free celebration for graduating seniors. The location (which is kept secret until the seniors arrive), entertainment, food and transportation are provided! Many volunteers and sponsors work together to make graduation night safe and memorable for all the right reason–and we always receive an enthusiastic response from the graduates in attendance.
This year close to 300 seniors chose to spend their graduation night together and were bussed away to a fun evening at Dave & Buster’s in Manhattan. In addition to taking advantage of the games and food provided, the night included activities such as getting henna tattoos and having their futures told my psychics. The highlight of the evening was watching a group of their classmates get hypnotized before hopping back on the busses at 5 a.m. for the trip back to Long Valley. The Project Graduation committee would love to thank all the businesses and many people from Long Valley who supported their fundraising efforts throughout the year!
