Snowstorm Closes All Local Schools Friday

Forecasters predicted up to 10 inches of snow before storm is complete.

Washington Township and West Morris Regional school districts will be closed Friday due to a winter storm moving through the area.

Both districts made the decision to shut their doors just after 8 p.m. Thursday night as snow continued to accumulate across northern New Jersey with the heaviest precipitation expected to come overnight.

Blizzard-like conditions are expected across northern New Jersey through mid-day Friday and as much as 10 inches of snow could accumulate.

All local schools issued an early dismissal Thursday afternoon in preparation for the impending storm, which some forecasters predicted would begin at 1 p.m. The first flurries didn't touch down until much later in the afternoon, though.
