'Suspicious' Late Night Fire Damages Long Valley Auto Shop
Police said the fire at Bill's Service Center is considered suspicious.
LONG VALLEY, NJ — A late night fire destroyed multiple cars and heavily damaged the building at Bill's Service Center on Route 46 Thursday night, Washington Township police said. The fire is currently being investigated as suspicious.
Around 11:30 p.m. Thursday night, four cars were set on fire near the auto shop. The fire jumped to the back of the building before it was extinguished around 12:15 a.m. by firefighters from Long Valley and Hackettstown. The business was closed at the time, but all four cars were extensively damaged, and the building suffered damage to the roof, rear wall, and structural damage to one garage bay.
The fire is being investigated as suspicious by Detective Sergeant Brian Szymanski of the Washington Township Detective Bureau, the Morris County Prosecutors Office Arson Unit and the Morris County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Unit. The cause has not yet been determined.
