Road to second consecutive championship ends against Demarest in straight sets.

It’s been said the hardest thing to do in sports is win back-to-back championships.
West Morris Central’s Lady Highlanders found that out the hard way Tuesday afternoon against Demarest, losing in straight sets to the higher seed, according to nj.com.
Central’s season comes to an end in the quarterfinal round of the North 2, Group 3 sectional tournament – the same competition they stampeded through in 2012 to win the title.

Gabby Savite led the team with eight kills, and Abby Rec and Brielle Mulcahy each gave the squad three service points, the report said. Katelyn Paxson and Melissa Krueger had 6 and 7 assists, respectively.
The Lady Highlanders amassed a 22-5 record on the year. It was the first season since 2008 the team had not won the Morris County Tournament.
