Union County Arc's Lucy Nico awarded Technology Navigator Fellowship
Lucy Nico, of Long Valley and Director of Technology for The Arc of Union County, is one of only 18 applicants across the country

Lucy Nico, of Long Valley, NJ, and Director of Technology for The Arc of Union County, is one of only 18 applicants across the country and all of The Arc chapters selected for the national Technology Navigator Fellowship. The Fellowship is a product of The Arc of the United States’ partnership with Comcast NBC/Universal.
“I’m very excited for this challenging opportunity to be able to help those with special needs using technology – which is my passion,” said Nico.
This is an 18-month ground breaking project and in the end Nico and other technology fellows will release a book on assistive technology for special needs individuals, along with creating a website for resource information.

“This is a great acknowledgement of Lucy’s skills and dedication to the field of technology,” said Carolyn Scott, Director of Human Resources. “We are equally proud that Lucy is a part of our team here at The Arc of Union County.”
Nico has been with The Arc for over five years. She is 38 years old and has been working in IT for 14 years. Her previous IT background includes working as a Technology Coordinator for a private school for seven years. Prior IT positions include help desk technician and repair technician. She graduated from DeVry University with an IT Management degree and is currently perusing a dual Masters in Computer Forensics with a MBA. She was editor for “The Basics of Microsoft Student Guide 2007,” a college resource book. Her expertise includes disaster recovery, integrated technology in a classroom, and assistive technology. She holds three Microsoft Certifications and is working towards her first Cisco certification. Nico is also a busy mom with two young sons.
