Washington Township Has Three New Police Officers
Robert Shannon, Derek Koppinger and William Craig are joining Washington Township's Finest.

LONG VALLEY, NJ - The Washington Township Police Department is stronger by three as Robert Shannon, Derek Koppinger and William Craig have joined their ranks. All three were sworn in as the newest members of Washington Township's Finest at Monday's Township Committee meeting.
Robert Shannon will be joining the department as a patrol officer and will enter the 94th Basic Police Class at Morris County Public Safety Academy starting Jan. 13. Joining him will be Derek Koppinger who will also be joining the force as a Patrol Officer.
The third new officer SLEO III William Craig will start Jan. 2, and will be assigned as an SRO at West Morris Central High School.

The Class Three SLEO concept was originally developed by the New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police (NJSACOP), which envisioned the position as an SLEO who would receive additional, specialized training and be assigned to schools.
