Washington Township One Of The Least Burglarized Towns: Report

According to the report, Washington Township had 3.246 burglaries per 10,000 people in 2018 or six altogether.

LONG VALLEY, NJ—Washington Township is one of the least burglarized towns in the country, according to a recent report by Alarm Grid, a company that specializes in alarm systems.

The company analyzed cities with populations greater than 10,000 from the FBI's database and determined how many burglaries per 10,000 residents occurred in that city in 2018.

Washington Township, which has a population of more than 18,000, ranked No. 94 on the list out of a hundred. According to the report, it had 3.246 burglaries per 10,000 people in 2018 or six altogether for that year.

The following cities tied for the first place spot with zero burglaries reported in 2018:

  • Northern Regional, PA
  • Northwest Lancaster County Regional, PA
  • Hopkinton, MA
  • Wayland, MA
  • Lewisboro Town, NY
  • Hasbrouck Heights, NJ
  • Woodbury Town, NY
  • Weston, CT

American Township, Ohio came in last place with 3.307 burglaries per 10,000 people.

According to Alarm Grid, homes without burglaries are 300 percent more likely to be burglarized. Eight in ten convicted burglars admit to checking if a home has a security system. Sixty percent of convicted burglars say they wouldn't burglarize a home with a security system.
