West Morris Central Shows Their Strength In Foil Again At County Fencing Tournament
WMCHS had a strong showing at this weekend's County Fencing Tournament.
RANDOLPH, NJ— The annual Morris County Fencing Championships were held this weekend at Randolph High School, and West Morris Central had a strong showing. Over 200 boy and girl fencers representing nine high schools in the county competed.
The boys foil squad from West Morris Central came away in first place. Their win was an improvement over last year's second place finish. A relatively young squad, comprised of two sophomores and one junior, with another sophomore as the alternative this year, they won with a 19-5 win-loss record among them.
Christian Garcia, a junior having produced an 8-0 record for the B-strip, and Nate Mange, a sophomore, going 6-2 for the A-strip both qualified for the individual competition in the afternoon.
