Central Grad to Launch College's LAX Program
Kim Williams hired as first head coach for Richard Stockton's women's lacrosse team, set to join NCAA in 2014.

Kim Williams has lacrosse running through her veins.
So much so that she’s been entrusted with coaching–and launching–Richard Stockton College’s first-ever women’s lacrosse program, set to take the field in the spring of 2014, according to the Galloway Township, New Jersey school.
Williams, a West Morris Central graduate, has spent the past three seasons as an assistant coach for Colby College’s team, which is currently ranked sixth in the nation.

Under her tutelage, six players have received All-American honors from the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association, the Richard Stockton College athletic department said.
The accolades aren’t just for her players, however. Williams, who spent her collegiate career at C.W. Post in Long Island, was an All-American herself three times over, and named Division II Defender of the Year in 2008, and womenslacrosse.com Division II Midfielder of the Year in 2010. She was also part of the C.W. Post team that won an NCAA Championship in 2007 and reached the final four each of the following three years. To top it off, Williams garnered three East Coast Conference First Team selections as well.

The Jersey girl is looking forward to returning home after years spent out of state, however.
“Having grown up playing high school and club lacrosse in New Jersey, I am ecstatic about the opportunity to return home and start the Stockton program in a state that I know is rich with talent,” Williams said in statement from the college.
The college is operating a women’s lacrosse club currently in preparation for the move to the NCAA’s Division III next year. Williams will take over the club at the end of May, 2013.
“I am honored to start the women’s lacrosse program at Stockton, Williams said in the statement. “While starting a program is never an easy task, I am excited, ready and eager for this challenge.”
